Nuisance Wildlife Control Services

The Master Trapper, Inc., performs many different services including:

Nuisance Wildlife Removal – When we receive a call that an animal of some kind has invaded someone’s home, we try to determine over the phone what kind of  animal it may be. This helps us choose the equipment that we may need on the job. Once we get to your house, we look around for clues to the animal’s identity if we have not yet figured it out. Our inspection may take a while because we not only look for the entrance, but also where other animals can possibly get in later. We set traps near the animal’s entrance to lessen the chance of catching a non-target animal and then, check the traps every day (Monday through Friday). Since we don’t normally work Saturday and Sunday (except for emergencies), we either close the traps or fix them to stay open so they don’t catch an animal over the weekend.

Emergency service calls – If you have an animal in your living space, you have an emergency! Wildlife belongs OUTSIDE! If you have any wildlife inside your house, leave it alone, shut it in a room and pack a damp towel under the door. Calmly call your local animal control office. They are limited to the removal, and can not help figure out where the animal got in nor can they help with exclusion services (keeping animals out). If they don’t find the animal and you still feel you need emergency help, feel free to call us at 703-973-3929, but know that we must charge a higher than normal price during non- business hours.

Exclusion Services – We don’t want you to have ANY animals coming to visit you after we are done, so we work hard to find every vulnerable spot on your house. It is up to you to decide which repairs you want us to perform. If an animal gets through our repairs within the warranty period (usually three years), we will come back to remove the new animal and perform the new repairs at our expense. In 11 years, I have only had two call backs where the animals beat my repairs and they were early in my career.

Dead animal removal – Men, if your wife says she smells something dead, she’s probably right! If you don’t smell it today, you will in another day or two! 99% of the time, we can figure out where the dead animal is and get it out, but everything that smells like dead animal is not necessesarily a dead animal. When the insulation is slowly melting on a wire that is shorting, it smells very much like a dead mouse. I have found this situation quite a few times! Often, the only way to remove the offending dead animal is to cut a hole in the wall. (don’t worry, if we cut it open, we fix it too!)

Cleanup services – Just because the animal is gone, the job isn’t necessarily complete. Many animals (particularly bats) leave significant amounts of feces that can cause health problems for the members of your family. We can take care of removing the accessible feces, treating for parasites and replacing insulation removed because of the feces.
